LATE BREAKING NEWS: Listen via the internet to an archived copy of a radio interview that Kenny did with KVOI in Tucson, AZ on Feb 22nd...at www.libertywatchradio.com/listen

Kenny made a return trip to the Laotian battle field site in Laos in late November '08 and you can read about it and view photos of the area where Kenny evaded by clicking on the "laos photo" page---on the menu at left. While there, a documentary producer shot a video interview of both Streetcar 304 and Nail 69 and he is now trying to find funding for a full documentary about the rescue story.

Become friends with Kenny Wayne Fields now on "Facebook"....

Kenny's publisher, Naval Institute Press, presented him with their, "2008 Author of the Year---2nd Place Award" on October 16th, and Kenny was inducted into the Lincoln Memorial "Literary Hall of Fame" on October 11th.  Click at right for award photo:  THE RESCUE OF STREETCAR 304

Read what's on Kenny's mind....

Kenny's publisher has just released a "trade" soft paper-back version which is now available in retail stores and on-line at amazon.com, etc.  It's cheaper than the hardback...of course...but it's full size.

While signing books at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in DC, Kenny was
told by the staff that his book was/is, "the top selling book at the museum for 2007 and thus far in 2008"....

Wow...  "The Rescue of Streetcar 304" achieved its highest book sales ranking ever on Amazon.com on February 25th, #2 out of over 7,000 available military aviation book titles....and appeared in the top five again in mid-October.
Thank you readers!!!

Two new pages have been added to the site.  Check out the
Valentine Day Story Page and the USS America Page (select on menu to left....)

Kenny did a TV interview about the book with Channel 5, WCYB-TV in Bristol,
Va. at 12:30p.m. on Thursday, January 10th. You might still be able to view it
on WCYB-TV, "archives page".

Kenny's publisher has released a "fourth printing"....
Scan the book review page to read a couple of the latest comments that
Kenny routinely receives from readers.

Sales ranking bounces around at the on-line book stores
and is questionable at best, so take for what it's worth...
but, during the week of January 1st, "The Rescue of
Streetcar 304" topped out on Amazon.com at #4 best
selling among all---nearly 7,000---military aviation history books.

Kenny's live, in studio interview with Keith Larson at Charlotte's WBT, 1110AM radio station on December 13th really motivated folks to attend his book signing
at the Concord Mills Mall, Books-a-Million store on
Saturday (15th).  Buyers were waiting for Kenny when he showed up at the
store, and the total sales for the day put Kenny in third place among all authors for book signings at the store...only exceeded by Jimmy Carter and Charles Frasier ( Cold Mountain). And, more listeners showed up at the Border's
bookstore in Huntersville on the 22nd where all books sold out early.

Kenny signed books AGAIN at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museums on November 23rd and 24th.  That was his third
visit there since July...but, they keep asking him back because of his sales numbers there. The museums only
receive 70% of their funding from the government so the
gift shop sales, etc, are needed to make up the other 30%,
and Kenny is glad to help out.

REVIEWS...  Read a portion of our latest book review
from the "West Virginia South" magazine on the book
review page.  It's awesome, and written by a female editor!!!

AWARD....  The book was nominated for the "2007 Reagan
Old North State Award" earlier in the year, but did not win.  Kenny is
nevertheless proud to have been nominated.

a book and have it personally autographed by Kenny?

September 15th, 1 p.m.-7 p.m., in the Border's store at 2420 South Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester, VA.  DONE...  This

one had great support from the store, and was a quick sell-out.  In fact, some customers who wanted a copy will have to wait for the store to get more so it appears that the Winchester area has lots of interest in Kenny's story.  High school friends Landon Collins and Rhoda and Tom Tandy visited with Kenny....

October 6th, 10:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., "October Sky Festival", Coalwood, W.Va.  Kenny will sell and sign books.  Another author friend, Sonny Hickam, will also be there.  DONE...  Kenny and his youngest son, Todd, had a grand time, and books flew off the table...thanks to a special introduction of Kenny on stage by Homer Hickam at the beginning of the event (thank you Sonny).  Many old school friends were there so Kenny was elated.  A special thanks to Carol Todd Dehaviland for all her help with this signing event...

October 12th, noon-5 p.m. at the Naval Air Station Oceana base main exchange store.  Books available and signing.... DONE... Chit-chatting with real fleet pilots is always a huge thrill for Kenny.  Excellent sales....

a Million" store in Concord Mills Mall, Concord, NC.  This mall is the number one tourist attraction for the state of North Carolina.  Wierd huh?  DONE...  It went so well that kenny and the store decided to do it again closer to Christmas...

December 8th, 10- 5 p.m. in the Hickory Aviation Museum, at the Hickory, NC regional airport.  One of the A-7s that Kenny actually flew in combat is on display there---painted in his squadron's colors, and there is a good chance that two of his squadron mate pilots will also be there.  Listen to Kenny's radio interview about this event on WHKY, 1290AM, on Friday, December 7th beginning at 8 a.m.  Done....Attendees included WW11 pilots, two of Kenny's old combat squadron pilots, and even one of the guys who re-fueled his plane aboard USS America.  A real blast....

December 13th, catch Kenny on Charlotte, NC WBT 1110 AM radio live, in the studio at 10 a.m.

December 15th,10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Books-a-Million bookstore in the Concord Mills Shopping Center, Concord, NC.  Requested to come back for Christmas sales because of the super response by readers on October 26th.... Done....One of the most exciting book signings of all time for Kenny, and his second highest total of book sales at any one signing event.  The customers were super nice, with many interesting stories of their own, and one of the pilots Kenny had flown combat with (Lt. Bob Smith, from VA-86) attended.  They hadn't seen each other in 39 years.

December 22nd, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. in the Border's book store inside the Charlotte, NC, North Lake Mall.  Last chance to buy the book for a Christmas present.... Be there early as the number of available books is limited for this one.  Done....For the second week in a row, all books available in the store were sold out, and the sales total was again one of the highest yet for one of Kenny's book signing events.  Several customers who wanted a book were not able to get one. That's all for 2007 folks...Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
